Welcome from the Creators

This site is dedicated to anyone affected by Maple Syrup Urine Disease, otherwise known as MSUD.  We are seven nursing students who have created this page to help adults and children learn more about this genetic disorder.  Our fist three pages are dedicated to the basic learning information about the disease.  Under "Kids Corner" children will delight in reading an exciting storybook about a sixth grader living with MSUD.  This is a fabulous resource makes understanding and relating to the disease easier for children.  The message board is a great tool for anyone affected by MSUD that wants to tell their personal story or just read about other people's experiences with MSUD.  The message board is up to the minute, so at any point a discussion may be taking place that could be helpful for dealing with and learnig about the latest MSUD news.  It is our desire that parents and children use this resource to connect and relate to others affected by the disease.  The links page is filled with actual links to websites
and information on institutions directly involved with MSUD.  We hope you find as much information as you possibly need for understanding and dealing with MSUD. 

To help in your research of Maple Syrup Urine Disease, is is important to know that it is also called, BDKD deficiency, Branched chain alpha-keto dehydrogenase deficiency, or branched chain ketoaciduria.
